EXCHANGE STUDIES
Here’s some important information to help you navigate the options:
- Exchanges within the EU/EEA (Erasmus) are always limited to the subject specified in the search tool.
- For universities outside Europe (called bilateral agreements), you can study any subject open to international students at the institution, unless a specific subject is mentioned in the search tool, in which case the exchange is restricted to that subject.
> Searching by subject area will only show options within that specific subject, mostly within the EU/EEA.
> To find universities outside the EU/EEA, select a specific country under "Country."
Make sure the university offers courses in the subject you need to study and that they are available during the semester you plan to go on exchange.
The search tool will also indicate the level of study the exchange applies to:
- If it says "bachelor," you can study at the undergraduate level, while "Master" refers to the graduate level.
- If you wish to combine courses from both levels, please verify in advance if this is allowed, as it is not always possible.
Also, check the language of instruction:
- If it states English as the teaching language, there must be at least 30 ECTS credits offered in English within the relevant subject area, but you should still review the course offerings carefully.
- If it lists English/another language, be even more thorough in researching available courses.
Ensure that the semester dates align with your study plans in Sweden, as they can vary significantly. Discuss with your program leader in case they don't.
All exchange programs are tuition-free, with the exception of Westminster University in the UK and University of Pennsylvania in USA, where a reduced tuition fee applies.
